Here it is:
Long ago, when dragons roamed the land, the dragon was always the top dog, and nobody hunted them. Dragons were, and always had been, the rulers and governors of the land, and all animals and creatures followed the law they laid down. Dragons never died, and birth of a new dragon was rare. Dragons had a slow aging rate, which was the cause of slow reproduction, the human:dragon aging ratio was about 50,000,000:1 (meaning fifty million years aging to us, is the equivalent to one year age to them). However the first fifteen years is 1:1.
A day like any other, the seven thousand dragons or so flew the land keeping order and happiness amongst everybody. One young dragon, 100,000,000 years of age (equivalent to a 17 year old human) named Zeddichia (ZED-IK-KAI-AH) spotted a creature he had never seen before, he soared to the tops of the trees for a better look. The figure was white and mostly hairless, save for the top of his head. As all dragons, Zeddichia had the ability to understand all languages, even the ones he hadn’t heard before. There were two personages below, one seemed to be female, and she had a large stomach – getting ready to nest, Zeddichia assumed. After a few hours of listening, he learned they were called “humans” and they intended to cover all of Ashantekenda (AH-SHAN-TEH-KIN-DA) (which they called earth) with billions of them, and he learned how quickly they had potential to do so.
Alarmed he sent out a cry that could only be heard of dragons, and all at once heard it. He was calling them to The Council. All dragons remained silent for the three days it took for the full council to arrive, while everybody was taking their positions the dragon leader, Malachi, announced with a deep voice in their language, “Let whomever called this council please come forward”. Zeddichia flew up to the spot next to the dragon leader and announced he called the emergency council and had good reason to do so. “A new race has entered into Ashantekenda, a savage race, as dragon leaders we cannot kill off their presence, nor bid anyone else to do so, but we must welcome them-” A dragon from the council interrupted him “How can this be so important to call a council, we can keep them in line as we keep all othe- ” “SILENCE” yelled the ancient dragon Hiume (HI-UM) then with a feeble voice said, “let the boy speak” Zeddichia continued, “This race is called humans, and their intelligence level is unlike that of the other creatures of the land, but rather, similar to that of dragons, as sure as I am that we will always stay the smarter race, they will still grow intelligent in all ways.” There was a silence, then Malachi said, “Do you know of basic behavior, birth rate, or anything else?” “yes, they have the potential to reproduce at least once a year, if not more, and the offspring can do the same, they are natural hunters, and give no concern to the laws of the land, but rather follow their own laws” said Zeddichia. Deafening silence fell over the dragons, which was broken when Malachi said “If any has ideas, suggestions, or comments for this, let him speak now”. Many ideas were given, to cage them, to kill them, even to ignore them, but all fell silent when Hiume spoke again, “Dragons are not creatures of war, nor will we take prisoners, but from what we know now of this race, their numbers will one day exceed our own, and they would most definitely want us for our hide, and trophies, and even shows of display. We as dragons cannot submit to be lowly creatures, spat on by others, but we must become a more peaceful bird, a wondrous sight no man should want to destroy, let us all ponder this, and return exactly one year from today, to share all our ideas”. Malachi stepped forward to conclude the meeting saying, “Watch these humans, to assure they do not get out of hand, Zeddichia will be in charge of all knew found knowledge on this, now go, and let your wisdom guide you, now go.” Dragons leaped up and flew in every which direction on the journey back to their homes around the world. Through the year much thought was given to the solution, and the humans had a son, and where again preparing to “nest”. April 26, all dragons gathered again together to put their thoughts together to find the answer they needed. All wanted still the ability to fly, but their precious scales could not be shown, Feathers, would be replacement, they must be smaller in size, and their life span must appear shorter, they would be born again, through their young, and they would call themselves, Eagles.

I liked it Samuel! You have a nice flair for narrative. I'll have to print it out and let Taylor and Kendall read it.
Very, very good story Samuel. I hope you use it for one of your writing assignments. You told that very well and I like all the names of the characters...you have the makings of a really good writer.
What a good myth! I liked it very much! I also liked how you worked in the school mascot...very nice touch.
It is a good story, you should put effort into all things the way you did for this, it is very entertaining!
